The decision between buying a motorized scooter or a cycle as your main source of transpor tat ion can be difficult. There are some factors to pay attention to when deciding between the two. Do you need to use the freeway? If so you will definitely want a cycle. While some scooters are capable of 60-70 mph speeds they certainly aren't designed to travel constantly at those speeds. If you are taking roads that require speeds in the 30-40 mph range then a scooter may be the right choice.

Scooters are more economical in gas consumption but if you like speed and power you should get a cycle. You can usually find a good used scooter but check around and take your time before you make your purchase; this rule applies to cycle shopping as well. Keeping in mind the kind of roads you'll be using will help you make up your mind between a cycle and a scooter.
