Traveling through California on a budget? Okay so you've saved a few bucks in the south staying at places like Super 8 and even camping out as you're heading north. Believe it or not there are hostels in Northern California . Remember making your way through Europe and staying in hostels to save tons of money? Didn't think California had hostels did you? Believe it or not there are many hostels in California . If you're in the north you'll have two great options one near the Lassen and Shasta area and the other on the upper Northern Coast in Redwood National Forest.

Huis ten Bos is a one room hostel located on a vineyard. You'll have beautiful views of the vineyard and plush forests alike. You'll have access to cooking your own breakfast here and at night you can go to one of the area's restaurants or eat with the hosts. A meal with your hosts includes meats, fresh vegetables and wine. There are endless activities in this area. The many lakes, mountains and forests mean excellent hiking, fishing, swimming, bike riding, and much more. You can do your laundry here and there is a BBQ area. Remember that there's no smoking aloud in the hostel. The advantage of this place is that there's no curfew.

There's a hostel near Klamath California. HI— Redwood National Park is a hostel that gives you a great location next to the ocean and amongst the beautiful redwoods. This hostel was built in 1908 giving you that cozy feel of a time where hurry wasn't life's creed. The hostel has great rooms and a nice lounge where you'll meet and socialize with other travelers. The activities available here are many: hiking, swimming, biking, wildlife viewing, or maybe just hanging out on the beach. There are laundry facilities, a kitchen, and a common room. There is a curfew here so make sure you know what time to be back.
